They Call him Trent

This post was due many months ago, but we'll do with what we've got, right? Many, if not all know, that I found the boy that I want to marry. He popped the question a few months back and we're planning for a December wedding. I want to share all the deets of the proposalbut first we need some background.

I moved to Utah when I was 11 years old. The ward I moved into was full of girls my age; 11 to be exact. Over time, we all became friends and started hanging out at each others' houses. That's where I first laid eyes on him. I never spoke to him but just saw him from a far thinking I'd like to meet him.

TIme passed and I found myself entering my freshman year at BYU. I was a microbiology major with high hopes of being a doctor. My load consisted of several sciences classes and a Book of Mormon class. Within the first week of school, I saw this handsome boy from my past in my Chem class. I remember thinking I should go talk to him. I introduced myself one day to him. He replied cordially and we both went our separate ways. I remember thinking that he was easy on the eyes if you know what I mean.

I lived with his cousin my junior year of college and ran into him a few times. It wasn't until a few winter breaks ago when reality hit him of how pretty I was and that he should probably ask me out. We couldn't meet up that break so we began talking on the phone for a few months. He flew home over his winter break and we fell in love. He couldn't get enough of me to be honest, nor I of him. He was everything that I had ever wanted and so much more. Sadly, his break came to an end. He flew back to New Hampshire to finish school. We continued to date and found out that we had to be together.

I got accepted to Teach for America in the Greater Boston area and was thrilled to have such a bright future on the East coast where he was. I flew out in May to take certification tests and we road tripped home to Utah together. After not killing each other on the road trip home, we knew we were two peas in pod, ice cream and hot fudge, or ham and cheese. We were two good things that went together and we wanted to keep it that way.

Before I moved to New York for the summer, we took a family trip to the cabin and he came along. We went fishing, biking, hiking, to Yellowstone, and everything else in between. One night after dinner, he told my dad that we were going for a romantic walk. I was actually quite embarrassed that he said romantic to my dad- it was always a little weird for me to talk about my feelings to people. We left the cabin and headed out on our walk.

Midway down the river path, he found a log for us to sit on. The sun was setting over the river and the sounds of the evening we echoing through the woods. He pulled out a homemade book and began reading it to me. It told the story of our courtship and our first meeting. It had our inside jokes and hopes for the future that we had shared over the past while. At the very end of the book, he closed it, reached into his pocket and pulled out a ring then got down on one knee. He then asked me to marry him and I said YES!!

I'm not stellar at photographing special moments in my life so here are a few of our engagement shots that show us together. Enjoy!
